The post 19 Must-Know Questions About Blogging Answered: Your Ultimate Guide to Blogging in 2025! appeared first on Katherine McLee.
]]>Whether you are a newer blogger or have not started your own blog yet, these answers should help answer some common concerns you may have!
As with any new business or hobby, there are always things to learn. Some people prefer to research and learn as much as they can beforehand, whereas others prefer to dive in and learn as they go.
No matter which your learning preference is, you may well have had one, two or any number of questions in relation to starting a blog in 2025.
While some of the questions below may seem obvious from the outside, often there’s more to the answer than you may initially realise!
Let’s get into the answers to the top 19 questions about blogging in 2025.
This is one of the first things you may think about when you first decide you want to start a blog.
For some, this will be a fast decision and you’ll know instantly what topics you want to blog about.
Others may have no clue what they want their niche to be, or they may have a few options.
It can be tricky to pick the niche you want to blog about but there are some guidelines you can follow which can help you choose the best niche for you.
The trick is to choose a niche that is something you’re passionate about, but also something that has an audience and good potential for growth and monetisation.
One common misconception is thinking that you need to be an expert in a topic to have a blog on it.
While having some background knowledge in your chosen niche is advised, it’s certainly not essential to be an expert. Being open to learning, researching and enhancing your own skills and knowledge as you go in a certain niche is also a good reason to choose it.
Picking a niche that has an audience is important. Nearly every topic in the world will have an audience, but not all topics will be easily monetised if this is the route you are wanting to go down.
If you aren’t sure there is an audience for your chosen topic, have a quick Google and see how many other websites pop up. This will show you if there’s a need for your information!
Unless you have chosen a very specific micro niche, Keyword Research will help you never run out of ideas of things to write about.
This is a completely valid concern and my honest answer is no, but, it will be a lot simpler for you if you did have some.
Blogging isn’t just putting text up on a website, there’s the technical aspects of blogging, such as setting up your website, managing hosting, dealing with domain names, adding in lines of code etc.
A lot of the aspects of blogging can be learned as you go, and often there are plugins and tutorials to help simplify or walk you through the steps you need.
Your hosting company will help you with anything hosting related. This includes website errors and anything to do with the setup of your website.
Choosing a hosting company with good customer service is so important for this very reason.
While some technical knowledge can be helpful, it’s not always necessary to have advanced technical skills to start a blog. Many blogging platforms, such as WordPress, offer user-friendly interfaces and guides to help beginners set up their blogs without much technical know-how. Additionally, there are plenty of online resources, tutorials, and communities where you can seek assistance if you encounter technical challenges.
One of the most common questions about blogging is whether it’s possible to make money from blogging and if so, how.
People often wonder about different monetisation strategies. These can be things like advertising, affiliate marketing, sponsored content, and selling products or services.
Yes, it’s absolutely possible to make money from blogging! You just need to be aware that it takes time, effort, and some strategic planning.
Some of the more common monetisation strategies include things like advertising, affiliate marketing, sponsored content, selling digital or physical products, offering services, and membership or subscription models.
It’s important to build a solid audience and provide valuable content before focusing on monetisation, as readers are more likely to engage with ads or purchase products from a trusted source.
I have a full post here explaining making money with a blog and how soon you will see the money!
Building an audience is crucial for the success of any blog.
Another of the most common questions about blogging that new bloggers especially have is how to attract readers to their blog.
This can include concerns about SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), social media promotion, email marketing, and other strategies for increasing traffic.
When it comes to driving traffic to your blog, ideally you want to aim for a combination of strategies. This includes optimising your content for search engines (SEO), promoting your blog on social media platforms, engaging with other bloggers and communities in your niche, guest posting on relevant websites, and building an email list.
Consistently creating high-quality content that resonates with your target audience is key to attracting and retaining readers.
This of course will depend on your specific niche, but the worry of whether you’ll find enough things to create blog content about long term is often a question people have when they are looking into starting a blog in 2025..
Keyword Research is such an important topic but can feel a bit confusing. This post here should help explain exactly what keyword research is, and how to use it for your own blog!
Finding inspiration for blog topics can come from various sources, such as your personal experiences, interests, industry trends, reader feedback, keyword research, and competitor analysis.
Brainstorm ideas regularly and keep a running list of potential topics.
A content calendar can work wonders here as you are then never out of ideas for what to write about and always know what’s coming up next.
Aim to provide valuable information, solve problems, answer questions, entertain, or inspire your audience with your content!
Fear of criticism and negative feedback can hold people back from starting a blog or sharing their writing online. Understandably so!
Many worry about how to handle criticism in a constructive way and develop a thick skin.
It’s natural to feel apprehensive about receiving criticism, but it’s important to remember that feedback, whether positive or negative, can help you grow and improve as a blogger.
Remember, there is a huge difference between someone leaving feedback, questions or suggestions, and someone who has left a nasty comment just for the sake of being nasty.
You can develop resilience by focusing on constructive criticism, learning from mistakes, and staying true to your voice and values! People enjoy your blog because it’s you – remember that.
You can consider establishing clear guidelines for yourself for moderating comments on your blog to maintain a positive and respectful community.
For example, if it’s a question, opinion, feedback or constructive criticism, you can keep it and respond/answer their comment. If it’s nasty/rude you can just delete it and move on!
With so many blogs already out there, some people worry that the blogging world is oversaturated and that it’s too late to start a successful blog.
You may wonder if there’s still room for new voices and perspectives.
The answer is that it’s never too late! People are always searching for information.
While the blogging world is competitive by nature, there is still room for new voices and perspectives.
The key is to find your unique angle or niche, create high-quality content, and consistently engage with your audience.
Keep in mind that building a successful blog takes time and persistence, so focus on providing value and building genuine connections with your readers.
Enjoy it and find your voice as you go!
People often worry about the time involved in starting and maintaining a blog. Understandably so! Especially if you have other responsibilities like a full-time job or family obligations. You may be wondering if you can realistically fit blogging into their busy life.
The answer is, of course you can, but I would encourage you to be realistic with how much time you can put into it.
Your time commitment for blogging will vary depending on factors such as how frequently you publish new blog posts, keyword research and research of topics, and how much time you are wanting to spend on social media/promotion of your content.
It’s so important to set realistic goals and expectations based on your available time and resources. Consistency is way more important than frequency. So prioritise quality over quantity when it comes to creating content , come up with a schedule that suits you and don’t stress about not being able to work on your blog for 6 hours a day!
There’s often a fear of putting in so much time and effort to start your own blog, only to have no one read it.
People worry about whether they’ll be able to attract an audience and whether their writing will be liked or be “good enough” for their readers.
The beauty of blog posts as opposed to professional news articles is that people know there’s a person behind your posts. They will enjoy the way you write, the way you put information across, and any other unique qualities you have to offer. Don’t worry if things aren’t perfect, blogs are loved for their realness as much as quality information.
Building an audience for your blog takes time and effort.
Knowing it will take time can help as you won’t be expecting a huge amount of readers straight away, but with dedication, learning and a good strategy, you can attract readers who truly want to read your content.
Focus on creating valuable, relevant, and engaging content that addresses the needs and interests of your target audience. Use SEO techniques, social media promotion, and networking within your niche to increase your blogs visibility and attract an audience to your blog.
Putting out high quality content that helps your reader solve a problem or answer a question is one of the best ways to gain the attention of your target audience.
With so many blogging platforms available, choosing the right one can be overwhelming. You may worry about whether to use a free platform like WordPress.com or Blogger, or whether to invest in a self-hosted WordPress.org blog.
When choosing a blogging platform, consider factors such as ease of use, customisation options, scalability, cost, and ownership of your content.
Popular options include WordPress (both the self-hosted WordPress.org and the hosted WordPress.com), Blogger, Wix, Squarespace, and Medium.
Research and read into the features and limitations of each platform to determine which best aligns with your needs and goals for your blog.
From a personal perspective, I would always recommend a WordPress.org blog with your chosen hosting.
Free blogs are great for those with no extra money, for someone just starting out and unsure if they will like blogging, or for those wanting to blog as a hobby or not wanting to make an income from their blog.
The free blogging platforms are often a little simpler, but this comes down to having less features and less customisation options.
You do not own your blog if you have it on a free platform. The platform does.
If you want the security of owning your website, want to be able to get an income from your blog, want to be able to have freedom to customise your blog as much as you like and already know you enjoy blogging, absolutely go for a self hosted blog on a platform such as WordPress.org.
Keep in mind that you can always migrate your blog to a different platform in the future if needed. It isn’t always simple but it’s absolutely doable.
This is a very common question as there is so much information everywhere you look, but the tricky part can be finding the RIGHT information that will actually be useful for you and your blog.
You can learn the skills you need to learn about blogging through online courses, tutorials, blogs, and books dedicated to blogging.
When it comes to online courses you have a range to choose from. Please remember that not all courses are created equally, so word of mouth from someone you trust and reviews can help a lot here.
You can buy courses directly, use paid platforms such as Skillshare or get information for free from places like YouTube.
YouTube is such an amazing way to get lots of information about blogging. Not only that but it’s one of my favourite places to troubleshoot when things don’t always go to plan!
That being said, to find the exact information you need while filtering through all the less-great information can take so much time and energy.
Investing in a decent blogging course will save you a lot of time and energy in the long run. Plus an added bonus is that often courses will provide free updates too so you’ll always have the most up to date information!
On top of all things mentioned above, you can also join some blogging communities. Talking and networking with other bloggers and more experienced bloggers can provide valuable insights, support and guidance.
Writing engaging blog posts involves a mix of grabbing your readers’ attention with strong blog post titles, clear formatting for readability (using subheadings, bullet points where needed, and images), incorporating visuals, and ending with a clear conclusion.
It’s important to make sure you are solving a problem or being entertaining for your readers. Keeping your blog content reader-focused is key.
Know your audience: Understand who your target audience is and create your content to suit and meet their interests, needs, and issues they may be having.
Start with a captivating blog post title: Grab your readers’ attention right from the start with an intriguing headline that promises value or solves a problem they may be having/experiencing.
Break up your text: Use shorter paragraphs, bullet points, and subheadings to make your content easy to read and digest. Frequent spaces and images can help with this too. You can of course also add video if this suits your content.
Provide value: High quality blog posts offer actionable tips, insights, or solutions to your readers’ problems. Make sure your content is informative, useful, and relevant to your audience. Don’t make your posts too short but don’t waffle just to fill space! The more relevant and helpful information you can provide, the better.
Encourage engagement: Invite your readers to leave comments, ask questions, or share their opinions at the end of your posts. Make sure to engage back by responding to comments which will help your audience to know you better and know that you’re a real person where they can ask questions and will get an answer.
Edit and proofread: Before hitting that publish button, have a read over your post for spelling and grammar errors, clarity, and coherence. A well-edited post reflects positively on your credibility as a blogger.
Blog posts do not have to be perfect, and can be in a more conversational tone, but making sure they make sense and flow well is important.
For a full list of epic and eye-catching words you can add into your blog post titles, click through to that post here!
How often you publish new blog posts depends on your time, goals and resources.
Consistency is key, so aim for a publishing schedule that you can realistically maintain over the long term. Some bloggers publish twice weekly, once weekly, some are once a fortnight and some are even daily. Experiment with different posting schedules to find what works best for you, your audience and your content creation process.

While having knowledge in your chosen niche is a plus point, it’s certainly not necessary to be an expert in your niche to start a blog.
(This doesn’t include topics such as finance or anything medical etc.)
Passion, a genuine love for your chosen topic, and a willingness to learn and share your journey is also an amazing way to connect and share information with your readers.
If you do have experience or are qualified in certain topics then you can of course use this to share your knowledge to enhance your blog content.
Building an email list is one of the best decisions you can make while blogging.
It’s not only an amazing way to engage with your audience, nurture relationships, and drive traffic to your blog but long term can help with an online income too!
Your email list is something you own, and is a way for you to engage directly with those who have indicated (by signing up) that they are really interested in what you have to say.
To get readers to join your list, you can offer incentives such as free downloadable pages/products, exclusive content, extra tips and information or special promotions (niche dependant) in exchange for their email address.
Use opt-in forms strategically throughout your blog (you can experiment to see what works best here for you and your readers), promote your newsletter on social media, and you can even run paid ads to encourage sign-ups if you feel this would be of benefit to you.
Luckily there is a range of different ways to monetise your blog.
This means you can choose whichever monetisation strategies suit you and your niche the best!
In addition to the more “traditional” monetisation methods like advertising and affiliate marketing, there are various other ways you can monetise your blog.
These include sponsored content, offering consulting or coaching services, selling digital products (ebooks, courses, templates etc), creating and selling physical products, and providing subscription-based content.
To dive deeper into the world of blog monetisation, have a look at this post here for more information on blog monetisation strategies.
When it comes to getting your blog seen, both SEO and social media play important roles in driving traffic to your blog and growing your target audience.
Up until recently I would have said SEO (talking Google) was the best thing to focus on, but due to various updates, this may not be the best strategy for all bloggers now.
Social Media is more of an active way to grow your blog as it requires more hands-on marketing (unless opting for paid ads etc) but can be really effective in terms of getting your blog seen.
Focus on creating high-quality, SEO-friendly content that answers questions your audience may have and incorporates relevant keywords.
Alongside SEO practices, actively engage with your audience on social media platforms! Share your blog posts, participate in relevant blogging/business communities, and leverage social media advertising to increase your blog’s visibility and engagement.
Staying motivated and overcoming writer’s block can be challenging for bloggers. Every blogger you speak to will have had this at some stage though so you are not alone if this has happened to you!
The biggest tip to overcome writer’s block is pre-planning out content.
Do your keyword research and from this, create a content plan so you have your upcoming posts all planned out.
Other things that can help are things such as establishing a consistent writing routine, setting realistic goals, breaking tasks into smaller manageable chunks, and seeking inspiration from other bloggers!
For more information on overcoming writer’s block as a blogger, check out this post!
What success means for your blog will vary depending on your goals and personal/business objectives.
The most common metrics to track include website traffic (unique visitors, sessions and pageviews), engagement (comments, social shares), conversion rates (email sign-ups, sales), and revenue (from advertising, affiliate marketing, product sales etc).
The easiest way to track most of these metrics is to use web analytics tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console. You can also use plugins on your WordPress website to help show a snapshot of these numbers.
When it comes to monitoring numbers such as affiliate sales, often the best place to check these is through your affiliate homepage for that specific company.
This may be a dashboard if you use a website such as Clickbank, or on the website directly for direct links from Amazon for example.
It’s important to monitor these metrics and make informed decisions to optimise your blog’s performance.
Don’t get caught up in checking all of your metrics all of the time, but keeping an eye every so often can help you see what’s working and what can be altered for better performance.
These are just a few of the common worries and questions about blogging that people have when considering starting a blog.
Each individual may have their own unique concerns based on their specific goals, interests, and circumstances!

]]>The post How To Overcome Writer’s Block As A Blogger: The Best Ways To Get Back On Track appeared first on Katherine McLee.
]]>Every blogger, regardless of experience or niche, has encountered the dreaded writer’s block at some point. Also known as blogger’s block!
There are two types of writer’s block when it comes to blogging.
Not knowing what blog post to write, and not knowing what to write within a blog post.
It’s that frustrating moment when inspiration seems elusive, and the words simply won’t flow.
Creativity (like most things) has its ebbs and flows. Embracing these challenges can lead to personal growth and even more remarkable content creation in the long run as you start to build up strategies and tricks that help you get out of any rut you may feel like you’re in.
Writer’s block is a common issue for bloggers. Thankfully it can be overcome with the right strategies and a dose of motivation.
In this blog post, we will go over some effective techniques to deal with writer’s block and get your blogging back on track!
Writer’s block is a hurdle that every blogger faces. That doesn’t mean it shouldn’t stop you from pursuing your passion. You’ve already come this far!
By implementing strategies like establishing a routine, seeking inspiration, breaking down tasks, practising self-care, connecting with others, and exploring different content formats, you can overcome writer’s block and stay motivated to continue with your blog.
It can be disheartening to stare at a blank screen without a clear direction. So let’s go over how you can get rid of blogger’s block and get back on track!
Read over your business plan/mission statement (if you have one). If not, have a think back to what you wanted from your blog when you first started it.
Think about your blog’s purpose and the niche/readers you cater to. Have a think about your target audience’s needs, interests, and any pain points/questions they may have.
Consider how you can address these areas in a unique and valuable way. By reminding yourself of your blog’s core focus, you can explore new ideas that align with your audience’s expectations and needs.
Similarly, your readers themselves can be an amazing source of inspiration. Engage with your audience through comments, social media, or email and encourage them to share their questions, concerns, or topics they’d like to see covered on your blog!
This direct interaction not only helps to generate new ideas, but also helps you tailor your content to your audience’s specific preferences.
Establishing a consistent writing routine can be a powerful tool in combating writer’s block. Set aside dedicated time each day or week to work on your blog. Knowing what days you are posting on what topics (using your blog post schedule) means you have time to prepare for each post in advance. This makes it easier to overcome mental blocks and get into a writing flow.
Carrying out effective keyword research can make a world of difference. Not only for getting your blog posts found on Google and Pinterest, but for inspiration on what topics to write on too. While researching topics and looking at various factors with whichever keyword research tool you prefer, it should also show you similar/related keywords and topics to write on.
My preferred Keyword Research tool is Keysearch as it’s super affordable and so simple to use, but really works! It’s perfect for anyone new to keyword research too.
Keyword research can be a powerful tool to overcome writer’s block for bloggers. Below are some ways that you can use keyword research to generate ideas and get your creative spark back!
The ways in which Keyword Research can help you overcome writer’s block as a blogger is that it can help you to:
Utilise keyword research tools to identify popular search terms and topics in your niche. Look for keywords that have high search volumes and relatively low competition in the beginning stages especially. This crucial research can help you come up with potential blog post ideas based on what people are actually searching for!
Incorporating SEO-friendly content into your blog posts can attract organic traffic and expand your audience!
Writer’s block can come in many forms. One of which is losing track half way through a post!
Identify any distractions that hinder your writing process and try to minimise them. While this may not spark internal inspiration, it can certainly stop you getting thrown off the blog post you are working on at the time.
Creating a focused and distraction-free environment can help you concentrate on your writing and overcome writer’s block.
Dive into your blog archives and unearth hidden gems. Repurpose or update older blog posts by adding new insights, statistics, or examples. Expand on/add to a specific topic or take a different angle on a previous post you have written.
Revisiting your older blog posts not only helps you come up with new ideas but also lets you utilise your existing content and provide a fresh perspective for your audience.
Inspiration can be found in unexpected places. Explore different options to spark your creativity and get some fresh ideas.
You could read blogs and articles related to your niche. Following authority figures in your niche/topic can be a great source of inspiration too! You can attend webinars (or conferences), or engage in discussions with fellow bloggers. Exposure to a range of perspectives can help break through creative barriers and inspire new and exciting content ideas!
Changing your environment can also help spark your inspiration. A change of scenery can do wonders for breaking through writer’s block. If you usually write at your desk, try moving to a different location, such as a coffee shop, a park, or a library. The new surroundings can stimulate your creativity and provide a fresh perspective! Inspiration can come from anywhere!
Sometimes writer’s block comes from feeling overwhelmed by the tasks in front of you. Stopping feelings of overwhelm and carrying out a brain dump can make the world of a difference.
Break down the writing process into smaller, manageable steps. Start with brainstorming ideas, outlining your post, and then focus on writing individual sections. By dividing the tasks it’s easier to tackle each section without being overwhelmed by the whole task as one.
Another way to break down your larger tasks is to write in short bursts. Instead of trying to write an entire blog post in one sitting, break it down into smaller writing sessions. Set a timer for 15-30 minutes and focus solely on writing during that time.
By setting a time limit, you create a sense of urgency and reduce the pressure of producing a perfect piece. Over time, these shorter bursts of focused writing can add up to a complete blog post.
If you’re experiencing writer’s block, facing large goals isn’t going to help at that moment!
Break your writing tasks into smaller, achievable goals. Set a specific target for each writing session, such as writing a paragraph or completing a section. It can be as small as necessary for you at that time. Creating an outline before you start writing will also help.
Accomplishing these smaller goals gives you a sense of progress and boosts your motivation to continue. It can also help spark inspiration and other ideas, without overwhelming yourself.
When you feel completely stuck, try freewriting to help your creativity.
Freewriting involves writing continuously for a set amount of time of your choosing, without worrying about grammar, or any sort of structure.
This method encourages free-flowing thoughts and can help spark new ideas.
You may just find you come out with ideas or inspiration you didn’t know you had in you!
Set a timer for a specific, fairly short duration (e.g. 10 minutes) and start writing without any hesitation or too much thought. Write your thoughts down freely without worrying about grammar, structure, or coherence.
The goal is to overcome the pressure of producing a perfect blog post in one go.
Freewriting can help you generate ideas and break through mental blocks. It can also help you work out how to fit certain pieces of information into a post, and what headings to use!
If you find you are really struggling to keep momentum going and keep your inspiration up, you can try switching up different content formats. If you typically write text-based blog posts, you could try adding in multimedia elements like videos or podcasts.
Experimenting with new formats not only adds variety but may just give your blog the boost you need to bring back your blogging inspiration!
Writing burnout can contribute to writer’s block and drain your motivation. It’s essential to take breaks, step away from the screen, and recharge your mind (and your eyes!). Do things that relax and inspire you. This could be things such as going for a walk in nature, practising meditation or mindfulness, exercising, or pursuing any hobbies that you enjoy.
Taking care of your mental and physical well-being is crucial for maintaining long-term blogging motivation!
Taking time off allows your mind to recharge and helps you come back to your writing with a fresh perspective.
We have all had it happen where we come up with an amazing idea in the shower! That’s because your brain can relax for those few minutes and it allows you to think a little more freely.
Building connections with fellow bloggers can provide invaluable support and motivation. Joining blogging communities can be one of the best decisions you make as a blogger!
Interacting with like-minded people can spark new ideas, offer encouragement, and provide fresh perspectives. Reach out to other bloggers or friends as they can often provide a fresh perspective or help brainstorm ideas with you as you can for them. Collaborating on a blog post or discussing your writing challenges can help generate new ideas, gain insights, and overcome writer’s block.
Running out of blog post ideas is a common hurdle for every blogger, but it doesn’t have to be a permanent roadblock. By implementing these tips and strategies, including reconnecting with your blog’s purpose, engaging with your audience, exploring trends, repurposing existing content, seeking inspiration beyond your niche, conducting keyword research, and staying curious, you can consistently generate fresh and engaging blog post ideas!
Embrace the challenge, think outside the box, and let your creativity flow to keep your blog vibrant and captivating for your readers!
So, take a deep breath, embrace the journey, and let your blogging motivation soar. Happy writing!

]]>The post How To Avoid Feeling Overwhelmed As A New Blogger appeared first on Katherine McLee.
]]>Blogger overwhelm is a real thing!
No matter if you are a new or more experienced blogger, no doubt you will have felt overwhelmed at some point. It’s all too easy to feel overwhelmed and lose focus on your blogging goals within the chaos of daily life.
There’s a lot more to growing a successful blog than you may initially realise. This isn’t to say it’s not worth it – it 100% is – it’s just the reality of having your own blog!
Let’s dive in and look at how to avoid feeling overwhelmed as a blogger.
Feeling overwhelmed with tasks as a blogger is so common. I am yet to meet another blogger who hasn’t felt this way at one point while growing their blog.
The first step to combating overwhelm is to identify what’s causing it. Take a moment to really think about the aspects of blogging that contribute to the feeling of being overwhelmed. Is it a seemingly never ending to-do list? A lack of clear priorities? Or constant distractions?
Pinpointing the root causes will allow you to address them more effectively!
As an example in my own life, I feel overwhelmed when I can’t get myself to concentrate and the to-do list keeps on growing!
The good news is that there are several strategies you can implement to help you manage your blog workload effectively and reduce stress! Regaining your focus and stopping feeling overwhelmed as a new blogger is something you can overcome with the right strategies.
Below we will go over actionable steps that can help you stop feeling overwhelmed and unfocused. This will empower you to achieve a greater sense of balance and productivity!
Once you’ve identified the sources of overwhelm, you can simplify and prioritise your tasks. Break down your tasks into manageable chunks. Focus on the essential tasks that align with your long-term goals and values.
Start by creating a to-do list or using a task management tool to prioritise your tasks. This step is so important! Identify the most important and urgent ones to help your blog and focus on completing those first. Breaking down large tasks into smaller, manageable steps can also make them feel less overwhelming.
Often, overwhelm stems from unrealistic expectations and a failure to establish clear boundaries – even with ourselves!
I am all for setting massive, dream worthy goals. But to stop any feelings of overwhelm, you need to set smaller, achievable goals you can work towards on a daily basis. Be realistic about what you can accomplish within any given time frame. Try to avoid overcommitting yourself and work on the tasks that align with your goals and priorities.
Creating effective systems and routines can greatly help you not to feel overwhelmed while blogging. Developing a work schedule that allows for focused work, breaks, and time for relaxation is key. If you don’t give your mind a break, you will start to feel burnt out. You can use organisational tools, such as a calendar or planner, to keep track of what tasks need completed by which date. Implementing systems for task management and prioritisation can also help you stay on top of your responsibilities and prevent feelings of overwhelm!
A Blog content schedule is your schedule for when specific posts are getting published. A work schedule will help you keep on top of all blogging tasks.
Where possible, allocating specific time slots for different blogging tasks can make a huge difference. By organising your time effectively, you can ensure that you have dedicated periods of time for writing, editing, promoting, and other necessary blog related activities. A schedule helps create a sense of structure and prevents tasks from piling up.
Knowing exactly when you are focusing on (for example keyword research, writing content, or creating Pinterest pins) takes the feeling of being overwhelmed away, as you know exactly what you are working on at any given time.
Reaching out to fellow bloggers or joining blogging communities where you can share your experiences, ask for advice, and gain support can make such a difference. Connecting with others (especially in your niche) can provide a sense of community and help you realise that you’re not alone in facing any challenges you will inevitably come across in your blogging journey.
It’s important to recognise your personal limits and not take on more than you can handle. (I think we are all guilty of doing this!) Learn to say no to requests or opportunities that don’t align with your current blogging priorities, or that exceed the time or energy you have. Prioritising your own well-being and workload is crucial for your long-term success.
Boundaries protect your time and energy, allowing you to focus on what truly matters.
On the back of saying no, you can also…
If possible, you can choose to delegate some tasks to others. You can consider outsourcing certain aspects of your blogging work if this takes the pressure off of your day. For example, you could hire a virtual assistant or a freelance writer to help with administrative tasks or content creation for your blog. Delegating can free up your time and mental energy for tasks that require your personal attention.
This one is an absolute must. Regular breaks are essential for maintaining your productivity and preventing burnout. Set aside time for short breaks throughout your work time to rest and recharge. Additionally, make time for self care activities outside of blogging, such as exercise, spending time with loved ones, pursuing hobbies, or simply relaxing. Truly relaxing, not just not working but feeling guilty for taking a break! Taking care of your physical and mental well-being helps alleviate any potential overwhelm.
Try out some stress management techniques that work for you. This can be things such as deep breathing exercises, meditation, mindfulness, or journaling. These practices can help calm your mind, reduce anxiety, and improve your focus.
Remember, overwhelm is a really common feeling. It’s important to be patient and kind to yourself. Give yourself grace. By implementing these strategies and finding what works best for you, you can regain control and find a better balance in your blogging journey.
Feeling overwhelmed as a new blogger and struggling to stay focused is a common experience in the blogging world. However, by implementing the strategies outlined above, you can regain control over your life and restore clarity in your own mind!
Remember to identify the sources of overwhelm, simplify and prioritise, practise self-care and mindfulness, set realistic goals and boundaries, establish effective systems, and seek support when needed. By taking intentional steps towards balance and focus, you can grow your blog with greater ease and achieve a more fulfilling and productive existence.
As mentioned at the beginning of this post, there’s one trick I find works more than any other for helping the feeling of overwhelm.
Of course we are talking about how to avoid feeling overwhelmed as a new blogger but this works amazingly for any aspect of life where you feel overwhelmed.
I learned this trick from Mel Robbins and it truly works wonders.
Brain Dump.
A brain dump is a technique used to externalise and organise thoughts, ideas, or information that may be cluttering your mind.
It involves taking the jumble of thoughts in your head and transferring them onto paper or a digital notepad. (I would recommend pen and paper but do whichever works for you.)
The purpose of a brain dump is to clear mental space, reduce overwhelm, and gain clarity.
To do a brain dump to reduce racing thoughts and overwhelm, follow these steps:
Find a quiet and comfortable space where you can preferably be alone without distractions for a short while.
Decide how much time you want to dedicate to the brain dump session. It can be as short as 10 minutes or it can be longer. It will depend on the amount of information you need to offload. You don’t have to set an exact time limit, but the idea is to get it out as soon as possible and not let it drag on.
Start writing or typing without judgement or concern for keeping things in order. Let your thoughts flow freely and write them down as they come to you. Include tasks, ideas, worries, plans, or any other thoughts that are occupying your mind. Literally any thoughts or words that come to your mind, write it down.
Resist the urge to edit or hold back on what you’re writing. The purpose is to get everything out of your head and onto the page in front of you. Allow yourself to be completely honest and non-judgmental during this process.
Just keep writing.
That’s it!
Whether it’s words, sentences, random thoughts or anything else, if it comes to mind, write it down.
Emptying your mind of thoughts and ideas frees up mental space and reduces mental clutter. This can lead to increased focus and improved decision-making.
Offloading your thoughts onto paper can help alleviate stress and anxiety. It allows you to release all of your worries and concerns, making them feel more manageable. It may not solve the issues, but it can get them out of your brain and put them more into perspective in front of you.
Once you’re done writing, rip it up! Brain dumps provide a visual representation of your thoughts. The idea is to get all thoughts out and then destroy the paper, thus eliminating the insignificant and bad thoughts from your mind.
The main reason why a brain dump helps you to avoid feeling overwhelmed as a new blogger is that it clears your mind. This means that you can plan out tasks with better focus and can tackle them with a higher level of productivity. You’ll have a clearer picture of what you need to do as you’ve cleared your mind of the clutter. This means you can allocate your time and energy accordingly!
This post was written to help you to avoid feeling overwhelmed as a new blogger – or as a blogger in general!

]]>The post 8 Simple Daily Habits That Can Make You More Successful! appeared first on Katherine McLee.
]]>Success is no accident to those who achieve it.
What success means to you may be different to what success means to someone else. To some, success may mean a monetary goal. To others it may mean financial freedom, to have found true love or true happiness, or to be able to run their own business. There are so many meanings of what success means to different people, but success is no accident.
Success is strived and worked for. There are habits, systems and disciplines put in place to achieve their chosen level of success.
Those who are highly successful in their lives have certain daily habits that help them achieve their goals and maintain their success. That’s what we will go over in this post!
Habits can vary depending on the individual, but there are certain commonalities. These commonalities are present throughout daily routines of the highly successful.
If you’re looking for an amazing read on the power of habits, both Atomic Habits and The Power Of Habit are amazing!
Both James Clear and Charles Duhigg really delve deep into the world of habit setting and why it’s crucial for growth in all aspects of life.
If you are intrigued into the world of habits, definitely give these two a read!
This first point is one I know you’ll have heard many times! But there’s a reason for it.
When you read success stories from anyone who has achieved a high level of success in their business, this is a common habit throughout.
Many successful people start their day early to maximise their productivity and get a head start on the day.
Not only does it give you hours back in the day that you may not otherwise have had, but by waking up early you have uninterrupted time before anyone else is awake.
Of course not everyone will have fully uninterrupted time no matter what time they wake up. The difference though is that you’re a lot less likely to have distractions before the majority of others are awake for their day.
For the highly successful, waking up early allows them to have time to take their time in the morning. It allows them the time to sit and plan out their goals and their day. Most highly successful people have a morning routine they follow and by waking up early it allows them to complete this in their own time.
If you need help in creating your own morning routine, check out this post!
Goals are one of the best tools you can use when achieving success.
You would be hard pushed to find someone who has achieved high levels of success in their life who never sets goals!
How would anyone ever know where they are going if they don’t have a destination in mind?
Successful people set clear goals for themselves, both short-term and long-term, and work towards them consistently.
To be successful in any area of life, goals are an absolute must. It includes a mix of long term goals, right down to daily and weekly goals. Consistently working towards those big, life changing goals.
Instead of long, drawn out to-do lists, successful people use their long and short term goals to craft their daily to-do lists.
This helps focus their minds on the tasks that are most important and that will help them achieve their goals.
You can read my post on setting SMART goals here!
This point follows on directly from the goal setting point above.
As mentioned, you need to know where you are going to be able to get there. On the flip side of this, it also means you need to know where you are now.
Every destination has a start and end point. Just as all goals have a starting and end point to achieve that specific goal!
Those who are highly successful are masters of self assessment.
This could be as frequently as after each working day, they reassess where they are at. This will help keep them on track for hitting those goals. The other benefit of self assessing regularly is that it shows them if any tasks haven’t been worked on or prioritised that should have been!
Self assessing at the end of the month or even the end of the year may feel like enough for some people, but for those who have achieved high levels of success in their lives, you will find that a common habit is that they really up the frequency of how often they self assess.
Regular self assessment is one of the greatest tools to staying on your chosen path.
People often don’t realise how far off track they have gotten until it becomes large enough to notice and in retrospect then also need fixed. Catching yourself early can prevent you diverting too far off course and therefore prevent you needing to backtrack and re-do things that potentially shouldn’t have needed re-doing or fixing in the first place!
Exercising regularly helps to maintain not just physical health but also mental health. Most highly successful people prioritise exercise and their fitness by making sure they get their daily workouts in.
No matter who you are, exercise is an essential part of a daily lifestyle.
Exercise helps to reduce stress, improve mental clarity, and increase energy levels.
A healthy diet is of course important also, as this keeps the mind and body alert, awake and healthy.
Whether the chosen exercise is walking, HIIT workouts, Yoga or Swimming, exercise is an important daily habit of successful people.
An enjoyable daily exercise habit can have a huge impact on your daily life. This is why successful people swear by it!
When you exercise your brain receives endorphins which make your mind feel good. This is an amazing trick to tap into your mind as the better you feel, the more productive you will be!
This point was probably one of the more obvious ones, but there’s a reason it’s well known!
Definitely isn’t one to skip if a high level of success is your goal.
Successful people are often very organised and manage their time effectively to ensure that they can accomplish all their tasks and goals.
Effective time management is key to productivity and success! Successful people are often very organised and manage their time effectively to ensure they can accomplish all their tasks and goals.
They use tools such as calendars, timers, and apps to stay on track and avoid distractions.
Time blocking is an amazing way to practise good time management. This is where you take your time and break it down into blocks of time, with each block being assigned to a specific task or activity.
Elon Musk has stated he blocks his time right down to 5 minute increments!
While this may be extreme for most people, time blocking on the whole is an amazing way to really make sure all important tasks are scheduled into your day. It also helps things feel less overwhelming as you can see when things are going to be completed – rather than worrying over a never-ending to-do list.
Blocking out time for meetings, business growth tasks, personal development, exercise, family time etc makes sure each area of life can get completed – but only if the time blocking schedule has been followed.
Successful people always set a timer or alarm to keep them on track!
One of the huge positives of time blocking is that you can also see exactly where there’s wasted time in your day. This way you can really utilise and make the most of your time.
We are all on limited time – learning to use your time wisely is key for success!
Grab yourself a decent planner and timer and watch your productivity skyrocket!

Successful people are always looking for opportunities to learn and grow. They attend seminars, and seek out mentors to help them gain new knowledge and insights. This could be in the form of books, audio books, webinars, online courses, in person seminars, coaching etc just to name a few!
Learning is essential to staying ahead in today’s fast-paced world, and successful people know that investing in their education and skills is key to maintaining their success. For example, Bill Gates is an avid reader, and Warren Buffet spends 80% of his day reading!
Everyone learns differently. Finding the ways that you learn best and utilising those will be the key to your own learning and success.
Growth is the key to anything positive in life. Learning is a huge part of that!
There’s always new skills and information to learn.
You will never find a highly successful person who feels they know it all and have closed themselves off to learning!
You can be an expert/highly knowledgeable in a topic but still have a lot to learn.
Highly Successful people understand the importance of building relationships and networking with others.
Nearly every single area of life runs off of people. People go to people.
Businesses need customers, content creators need readers/watchers, charities need donations etc.
People are what make the world go round. This is not lost on the successful!
Having an ever growing network of people, friendships and relationships is one of the best things to have for yourself and your business.
Networking can open up new opportunities and help you stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
Gratitude is an important mindset practised by the successful because it helps to shift the focus from what we lack to what we have. Focusing on the positives instead of the negatives!
Instead of dwelling on the negative or what is missing, practising gratitude allows us to recognise and appreciate the positive aspects of our lives. This can lead to a more positive outlook, increased resilience, and a greater sense of well-being.
Here are some ways gratitude can help you achieve success:
Gratitude helps to reduce stress and anxiety. When we focus on what we are grateful for, it can help to reduce stress and anxiety by shifting our attention away from negative thoughts. Studies have shown that practising gratitude can increase feelings of relaxation and improve overall well-being.
Daily gratitude helps to increase our resilience. By cultivating a mindset of gratitude, we can become more resilient in the face of challenges and setbacks. When we focus on what we are grateful for, we can maintain a positive outlook and find the strength to persevere through difficult times.
Practising gratitude helps to increase motivation and productivity. When you feel grateful for what you already have, it can increase your motivation and productivity. By focusing on the positive, you are more likely to approach tasks and challenges with enthusiasm and energy.
Gratitude helps to attract more positivity into our lives. By practising gratitude, we can attract more positivity into our lives. When we focus on the good things in our lives, we are more likely to attract positive opportunities and experiences.
You can express gratitude in various ways, including writing down things you are grateful for, or practising meditation. No matter how you do it, as long as you truly FEEL grateful, you’re doing it right!
So those are the 8 daily habits of successful people and the key to their success!
Incorporating these habits into your own life can help you achieve your goals, boost your productivity, and maintain a healthy work-life balance. Remember, success is not achieved overnight, but through consistent effort and dedication to your goals. By adopting these habits, you can set yourself on the path to success!
Do you do any of these daily habits already?
Which ones do you feel you could implement into your own daily routine?
